Teaching Students to Value Creativity and Expression
Our curriculum is permeated with instruction in aesthetics so students cultivate an appreciate for beautiful language, music, and art.
Language
God speaks to us with language, and in many different types of language: narrative, poetry, instruction, and proverbs. And so, or curriculum emphasizes the learning of language. We do this by working a great deal with English language and by learning Latin, which gives students insight into the deep roots of the words that we use today.
Music
God created man to be musical. King David—the man after God’s own heart—wrote psalms and played instruments. God sings over his people (Zeph. 3). From the earliest ages, our students learn the psalms that God has given us and the best hymns in the history of the church. Beginning in the 3rd Grade, students can choose to learn to play the violin or the cello.
Art
The Bible describes artisans who beautify places of worship. We believe that gaining skill in creating and appreciating art is a fundamental aspect of the development of a person made in the image of God. Art classes and projects enable students to explore the concept of aesthetics and play a part in making the world more beautiful.
